The purpose of the Broadband Fixed Wireless Access Consultative Group
group is to facilitate ongoing discussion with industry and other interested parties on matters relating to the award of spectrum licences for Broadband Fixed Wireless Access (BFWA).
The Group is the forum for industry to advise the Radiocommunications Agency on a wide range of issues relating to the award of BFWA licences, includingthe appropriate award procedure, spectrum packaging, competition, industry structure and licensing and regulatory issues.
The Agency invited all those who responded to the consultation document Wireless in the Information Age, and other companies that expressed an interest in attending the Group, to nominate a representative to participate in the Group. It will also have representatives from the Agency and its advisers and from other government organistaions, including Communications and Information Industries Directorate of the DTI, OFTEL, HM Treasury, the Department of Culture, Media and Sport and the Independent Television Commission (ITC). Organisations may wish to receive papers only, rather than send a representative.
We expect the Group to meet on a monthly basis throughout the period leading up to licence award. The Group will be chaired by Hazel Canter, Director of the Agency’s Spectrum Services Executive.
