Domestic Television And Radio Interference |

There are a number of possible causes for poor television or radio reception. The experience of the Agency has shown that many reception difficulties are due to problems, long-standing or recently developed, within the receiver or aerial system used. In such cases a TV dealer or aerial installer is the appropriate source of advice. However, in some circumstances the Agency can investigate interference problems and offer advice on how to resolve the problem. If the problem is found to be due to the use of unauthorised radio apparatus or faulty electrical apparatus, appropriate enforcement action will be taken against the user. For details on how to request an investigation see the leaflet RA179 Television and Radio Interference.
The Agency is not responsible for general reception problems, such as a lack of adequate signal from the TV transmitter. Advice on how to receive good TV & radio reception is available from the BBC at BBC Reception Advice www.bbc.co.uk/reception/
Advice for TV and radio dealers on interference problems is contained in RA 323 Guidelines for Improving Television and Radio Reception.
Thermostats can be a common cause of interference to TV and radio and RA 272 Problems Thermostats can cause to Television and Radio Reception gives advice about this type of problem.
A technical standard has been adopted to control any undue interference emanating from the introduction of new broadband non-radio technology.
