Responses to the Consultative document on Radio Based Telecommunications Services in the 2.4 GHz Band

Summary of Responses

As announced in a DTI Press Notice, the Government has confirmed proposals to extend the licensing of Radio Fixed Access Services at 2.4 GHz.

The announcement follows last year's consultation exercise by the DTl's Radiocommunications Agency (RA). The consultative document considered the basis on which further licences would be issued in the 2.4 GHz band for regions across England and Wales. The process also served to elicit expressions of interest in the available regional licences.

Nine responses were received to the consultation. Four of these, from

• Atlantic Telecommunications Ltd,

• Squire, Sanders & Dempsey acting on behalf of The Boeing Company,

• British Telecommunications plc,

• and the European Radiocommunications Office

are presented here. The five other responses received were submitted in confidence and are therefore are not reported within these pages.
