RA aims to manage the radio spectrum allocated to terrestrial fixed links in a cost effective and efficient manner in order to provide fair and equitable access to the spectrum and, as far as possible, satisfy the requirements of all our customers.
This involves the development and implementation of Agency policy relating to fixed terrestrial point-to-point links with the emphasis on links infrastructure, including the promotion and protection of UK fixed link interests in international fora with the aim of achieving access to appropriate spectrum, protecting current allocations and agreeing suitable technical parameters in the form of technical regulations and standards, produced in consultation with relevant manufacturers and operators. This work also involves detailed frequency band planning, co-ordination with other services, the assignment of terrestrial fixed link frequencies and the issue of licenses.
The aim of this work is always to fulfil the Agency's vision of achieving optimal management of the spectrum by addressing market expectations and customer needs, promoting efficient spectrum use, maximising economic benefit, encouraging innovation, maximising sustainable competition, maintaining diversity of use and conforming with European harmonized spectrum plans.
