Notice in Respect of the Revocation of Private Business Radio Licences

THE SECRETARY OF STATE hereby gives notice pursuant to section 1(4) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 to holders of Private Business Radio Licences that, with effect from 28 July 2000, each Licence in the following classes shall be revoked:

New licences shall be issued by the Secretary of State immediately following revocation on the following basis:

  1. Local Communications Licences shall be reissued as On-site Private Business Radio Local Communications Systems Licences.
  2. Radio Paging (Standard) Licences issued on a Hospital Paging and Emergency Speech basis shall be reissued as On-site Private Business Radio Hospital Paging and Emergency Speech Systems Licences.
  3. Radio Paging (Standard) Licences issued on a One-way Paging and Speech basis shall be reissued as On-site Private Business Radio One-way Paging and Speech Systems Licences.
  4. Radio Paging (Standard) Licences issued on a One-way Paging basis shall be reissued as Self-Select Private Business Radio Licences.
  5. Private Wide Area Paging Licences shall be reissued as Wide Area Private Business Radio One-way Paging and Speech Systems Licences.
  6. Local Authority (Emergency Alarm) Radio Licences shall be reissued as Wide Area Private Business Radio Distress Alarm Systems Licences.

Holders of the new Licences shall be charged on the anniversary date of the original Licences’ date of issue, the appropriate fee specified in the Wireless Telegraphy (Licence Charges) (Amendment) Regulations 2000 laid before Parliament on 27 June 2000. On-site Private Business Radio Hospital Paging and Emergency Speech Systems Licences, On-site Private Business Radio One-way Paging and Speech Systems Licences and Self-Select Private Business Radio Licences, shall subsequently be charged on every third anniversary of the anniversary date.
