PMR into the Future
Seminar for PMR Stakeholders - Tuesday 5 December 2000
Hanover International Hotel, Daventry
As a member of the PMR community of users, regulators and industry you have the opportunity to shape the future for PMR and add your voice to setting future strategy. PMR into the Future is a seminar and workshop for those with a real interest in setting the future for PMR and ensuring that the economy continues to gain from the value that PMR provides. If you cannot come let us know what you think.
No one would doubt that the world of mobile communications has undergone a massive change in the last year. Now 40 million UK customers are using mobile communications, mainly due to the rapid increase in mobile phone use. This has led all in the UK economy to increase their use of communications services and to evaluate their specific requirements.
PMR, the longest established mobile communication tool, is undergoing change too. The PMR community is made up of Government and regulators, industry and suppliers, and customers - a three-way dependency. The community is characterised by a high proportion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, as customers and suppliers. Services offered include wide-area and onsite private mobile/business radio, short term hire and common base stations.
In order to grasp the challenges and move the sector forward, or else be left behind, all parties ought to have the opportunity to be involved in setting the strategy for the future.
The FCS trade association, representing manufacturers, suppliers, dealers and CBS operators, is working in partnership with the Radiocommunications Agency, as regulator and spectrum supplier, to invite PMR customers and users to PMR into the Future - a joint seminar and workshop on Tuesday 5 December 2000 at the Hanover International Hotel, Daventry.
The seminar will review and set a common agenda specifically for PMR that will follow through in the years ahead on:
In the three months running up to the meeting, research is being conducted in the following areas, which will be reported upon on 5 December:
An important element of the day will be workshops for all delegates to tackle the issues and questions for PMR that will need to be resolved for the future strategy to work.
We welcome your involvement. Please send off the reply slip below to register your attendance - we know this event will be popular so please register early. If for any reason you cannot attend, let us have your top three questions for the seminar.
