Dear Brian
BT appreciate the opportunity to respond to the Consultation on "Cordless Telephony: The Future of Analogue and CT2 Cordless Telephony in the United Kingdom".
Overall BT recognises this consultation document as a positive step forward. However, BT maintains a strong interest in using CT2 technology in the medium term (predominantly for PBX applications) and, in this context, welcomes the fact that it is not proposed to cease the use of CT2 immediately but to phase it out over a period of time.
BT is supportive of the view to re-use the spectrum for other new and innovative applications. In particular BT welcomes the forward thinking in relation to utilising the spectrum for third generation mobile, especially to bring benefits to rural areas of low population density.
BT looks forward to working with the regulatory bodies to ensure the future application of the spectrum concerned is used in the most effective and efficient manner.
A copy of this response has also been forwarded to Nick Williams.
Yours sincerely
