1. Introduction
This policy statement relates to the RA consultation: "Spectrum for TETRA Mobile Services in the 872-876 MHz and 917-921 MHz Bands", August 2001.
The consultation sought to assess the support for awarding 2 x 4 MHz in the 872-876 MHz / 917-921 MHz harmonised TETRA band to Dolphin Telecommunications, the national UK TETRA operator, for the implementation of a fast data 'overlay' network (complementary to the existing network) using TETRA Release 2 technology.
The consultation focussed on four
main issues
allocating
2x4MHz of spectrum in the 900MHz band to Dolphin for TETRA 2
maintaining
2x1MHz of spectrum in the 900 MHz band for private TETRA
considering
re-use of TETRA 2 spectrum outside major conurbations for private TETRA applications
adopting
CEPT recommendations for guard bands
The Agency is grateful to all those who took an interest and participated in the exercise by taking the time to respond.
This document represents a summary of the open comments received, the RA reaction and subsequent policy decisions.
