Two Way Paging |

In the late 1990s there was a significant repositioning of the traditional paging market toward Two Way Paging (TWP). In keeping with the Government's commitment to derive maximum economic benefit and technical efficiency, the Agency issued a consultation document ("Spectrum for Public Two Way Paging") in October 1999.
The consultation received a favourable response from the paging industry, and the Agency invited industry to apply for technology-neutral licences for TWP services using spectrum previously reserved for ERMES.
Currently, one UK Paging operator holds a TWP licence, with no delivery of services.
As a result, the unlicensed spectrum
allocated for TWP use is being included in the review of the ERMES spectrum.
Any final decision will be a matter for Ofcom during 2004.
