1. General
The Mobile Task Group reports to RA through the Head of Engineering and Research at RA.
Membership is open to organisations or groups actively involved in a relevant topic area and who support the interchange and publication of pre-competitive results.
Task Group chairpersons are appointed by the Head of Engineering and Research at the Radiocommunications Agency. Each Task Group will submit an annual report to RA. Task Group meetings are convened by a Secretariat within the Radiocommunications Agency in consultation with the relevant chairperson.
2. Task Group on Mobile and Terrestrial Propagation
This Task Group covers the fields of mobile and terrestrial radiowave propagation mechanisms, particularly diffraction and scattering.
Topics covered by the Task Group include:
a) Area-coverage prediction models;
b) Effects of ground cover, including urbanisation, vegetation and wind-farms, on terrestrial and earth-space paths;
c) Macro-cell, micro-cell and pico-cell propagation, including indoor propagation and propagation in tunnels;
d) Wideband channel characterisation and channel sounding;
e) Diffraction, scattering and transmission theory and modelling;
f) Systems-related issues, such as multiple-access air-interface, modulation and coding schemes, handover strategies, etc;
g) Antenna characteristics, particularly adaptive antenna systems and performance;
h) Terrain and ground-cover databases, both macroscopic and street-level;
I) Collation and maintenance of a measurements results database;
j) Quantifying accuracy improvements in the models.
