Design and development of a methodology for efficiently tracing the source of intermittent wideband EMC disturbances to radio reception

*

Introduction

This report represents the final deliverable from Radiocommunications Agency project reference AY 3639, “Design & Development of a Methodology for Efficiently Tracing the Source of Intermittent EMC Disturbances to Radio Reception”. The project has been conducted at the Centre for Communication Systems Research at the University of Surrey. The aim of the project is to design and develop a practical method for tracing the source of intermittent EMC disturbances to radio reception. The report is divided into two parts:

Part one specifies the characteristics of the EMC disturbance, the surrounding environment involved and the radio signal which suffers interference. It then surveys potential techniques for locating the interference source. In Part Two an appropriate location technique is selected and evaluated and points relating to practical implementation of the technique are highlighted.
