ERO Workshop on Ultra Wide Band - March 2001 |
![]()
Dear colleagues
Thank you for your participation in the CEPT Ultra Wide Band workshop in Mainz 20 March 2001.
The workshop was intended to initiate discussions and provide information about the initiatives regarding future regulation for UWB services and applications.
Within the Short Range Device Maintenance Group (SRD/MG) and the project team SE24 of CEPT we are now planning how to take forward the activities based on the discussions we had at the workshop and of course including close contact with the FCC and the NTIA in USA.
As promised we have developed an UWB page under the SRD/MG page ( www.ero.dk/eroweb/srd/srd-index.htm) where all the presentations are made available and where also relevant documents are and will be provided during the next months.
It is envisaged that the compatibility studies and tests of SE24 will be finalised during summer 2001 and that the ETSI standard will be developed before the end of 2001. The SRD/MG will develop proposals how to regulated the UWB technology in Europe and expect to report to the FM WG meeting of CEPT at its September meeting 2001 and the January meeting 2002.
Another workshop may be considered during autumn 2001. Please follow the development on the ERO web site.
Best regards
Soeren Hess
Chairman of the SRD/MG
European Radiocommunications Office.
