"News" On 21 July, the Government published its Green Paper on the future regulation of broadcasting and telecommunications "Regulating communications: approaching convergence in the Information Age". The Green Paper provides the Government’s preliminary views on the implications of convergence for regulatory frameworks in broadcasting and telecommunications. It moves the debate forward from the EC Green Paper on convergence and is one strand of the strategy set out in the Government’s vision of the Information Age published in April. Availability of radio spectrum will be key to convergence and the Green Paper includes a section on the management of that resource. This reaffirms the status and key role of the Radiocommunications Agency as the UK national spectrum manager. The Green Paper is available in full from HMSO and also on the Internet at: Responses should be sent by 30 November to DTI’s Communications and Information Industries Directorate and to DCMS’s Broadcasting Policy Division at the addresses given in the Green Paper.
