Ofcom Numbering Forum
Purpose
The Ofcom Numbering Forum will have the following key objectives:
- Increase the transparency of Ofcom’s telephone numbering policy and strategy development processes;
- Provide an additional channel for any interested party to express their views on Ofcom’s numbering policy and strategy development;
- Provide a platform to inform Ofcom of implications from numbering issues for consumers, providers and other interested parties;
- Promote widespread and more effective contributions from interested parties to the policy-making process; and
- Provide an additional channel for disseminating numbering-related information to interested parties on policy developments at international, EU or UK Government levels.
The scope of the Numbering Forum will be Ofcom’s work in developing the UK’s telephone numbering policy in the national interest.
The Numbering Forum is not itself a decision-making body but it will inform Ofcom’s decision–making process.
Meetings of the Forum will take place at approximately six-monthly intervals.
Attendance
Attendance is open to anyone with an interest in numbering issues. Restrictions
will only apply in respect of the limitations of accommodation, in which case
‘first come, first served’ will apply and restrictions may be placed
on the number of representatives from the same organisation.
Chairmanship
The Numbering Forum will be chaired by Ofcom.
Communications
Notice of meetings, agendas, documents for discussion and meeting notes will be available on this page.
Meetings
The next numbering forum will take place on Tuesday 27th September. Invites for this event will be sent out towards the end of the summer.
