Statement: Making on-demand services accessible

  • Start: 08 July 2020
  • Status: Closed
  • End: 16 September 2020

Statement published 9 July 2021

Catch-up and on-demand services are increasingly popular, but these services are often not accessible to people with hearing and sight impairments, because they don’t provide features like subtitles, audio description and signing.

This is our second report on making video on-demand services more accessible to people with sight and/or hearing impairments. It contains further recommendations to Government on making the accessibility of on-demand services a legal requirement.

British Sign Language (BSL) and plain English summaries of the report are also available.
