Investigation into BT’s compliance with statutory requests for information

Issue: Whether BT has contravened requirements to provide information in response to statutory information requests issued under sections 135 and 191 Communications Act 2003.

In the course of its investigation into BT’s use of Deemed Consent, Ofcom became aware that BT had failed to provide complete and accurate information in response to statutory information requests made by Ofcom under sections 135 and 191 of the Communications Act 2003.

On 5 April 2017 Ofcom gave a Confirmation Decision to BT that it had contravened requirements to provide information in three separate statutory information requests – see the media release.
