Former Ofcom Director Jim Niblett has been awarded an OBE for services to telecommunications in the Queen's birthday honours list.
Jim, who retired from Ofcom earlier this year, played a key role in the telecommunications industry both in the UK and internationally.
The Order of the British Empire recognises distinguished public service. Jim will collect his award in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
As Head of International Policy at Ofcom, Jim forged new relationships with European institutions, overseas communications regulators and with European trade and consumer associations.
Jim began his career in the civil service, before moving to Oftel in 1996. He joined Ofcom when it was first established in 2003. His retirement brought to a close a 37-year career in public service.
