New Chairman for Ofcom’s Advisory Committee for Scotland
Ofcom today announced the appointment of Laura Alexander as the new Chairman of its Advisory Committee for Scotland.
Ofcom has Advisory Committees for each nation of the UK. These offer advice on all aspects of Ofcom’s work, focusing on those of particular importance to the nations.
The full membership of each of the Advisory Committees represents a wide range of experience and skills.
Laura has been a member of the Advisory Committee for Scotland since 2007 and currently works for the Open University.
After completing a Master’s degree in Physics and Electronics, Laura worked as a Senior Electronic Design engineer in a variety of sectors, including defence, mobile phones and telecommunications, becoming a Chartered Engineer through the IET (formerly IEE). She is currently completing a part time MSc in Technology Management.
She takes up her role with immediate effect.

- Laura is replacing Professor Philip Schlesinger who has recently been appointed to represent Scotland on Ofcom’s Content Board.
