Short-term Restricted Services Licences (SRSLs)

New SRSL guidance notes and application form

In November 2015, Ofcom published revised SRSL guidance notes and application forms. The revised forms can be found on Ofcom’s website here. We will no longer accept applications submitted using the old form.

Application process for Short-term Restricted Service Licences between 3 June and 10 July 2016

Ofcom is inviting applications for SRSLs from those wishing to provide a temporary analogue radio service for any dates between 3 June and 10 July 2016.

Ramadan falls within this period, and Ofcom expects to receive a large number of applications to run radio stations at that time. As a result, in some locations in the UK, due to the high demand for SRSLs and the limited number of FM frequencies available, Ofcom expects to have to allocate licences by way of a draw.

The large number of applications Ofcom expects to receive also makes it impractical for us to accept applications on the usual 'first come, first served' basis.

Applicants wishing to provide an SRSL service for any dates between 3 June and 10 July 2016 are therefore requested to submit their application between 26 November 2015 and 10 December 2015.

Further details are available on Ofcom’s website here.
