Consultation: Review of Ofcom's Code on Television Access Services and Guidance on BBC Accessibility

  • Start: 20 November 2019
  • Status: Closed
  • End: 31 January 2020

Ofcom’s Code on Television Access Services includes guidance which must be observed by the BBC in relation to providing access services (subtitles, audio description and signing) on its television channels. In line with the BBC’s Royal Charter and Agreement 2016, Ofcom is now reviewing how the BBC should make its UK Public Services accessible.

At the same time, we are consulting on changes to improve the clarity of our Code on Television Access Services for all broadcasters.

If you have accessibility requirements which are not met by these publications, and would like to request information in a different format, you can email or call our Advisory Team from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00 on 020 7981 3040 or 0300 123 3333.
