Ofcom and the National Infrastructure Commission: improving UK connectivity
In December 2016, the National Infrastructure Commission (NIC) published a report on making the UK’s mobile connectivity fit for the future. The report focused on the need to make basic services available across the UK, and ensuring that roads, railways and city centres are made 5G ready as quickly as possible. The NIC called on Government and Ofcom to play an active role in this process.
Ofcom welcomed the NIC’s report and is taking action in a number of the areas identified for improvement. These are set out here in a letter from Ofcom’s Chief Executive, Sharon White, to the Chair of the NIC (PDF, 93.2 KB).
