Ofcom has commissioned a survey of UK internet users aged 16+ who self‑report having accessed pornographic content online, to understand how they access such content and their past experiences with age checks.

The survey measures the age‑assurance methods users have encountered or used, their comfort with these approaches, and the barriers that prevent them from completing the process.

It also explores why some users stop accessing pornographic content online.

We first carried out this quantitative research in September 2025 with YouGov.
