Ofcom's annual PBB reports summarise the evidence base for assessing delivery of the purposes of public service television broadcasting (PSB) by the public service broadcasters (PSBs) on the PSB channels, i.e. the main five PSB channels (BBC One, BBC Two, the Channel 3 services, Channel 4 and Channel 5), the BBC portfolio channels and S4C.
Ofcom also publishes periodic PSB reviews to address the performance of the PSB system under the terms set for Ofcom by Parliament. Our role is to review the delivery of the aims and purposes of PSB as set out in legislation and to consider options for maintaining and strengthening the system.
Our audience research supports and provides evidence for all of these publications.
