01 January 2020

Ofcom has given its consent to a request from Sky UK Limited ("Sky") to broadcast exclusive live coverage of cricket test matches played in England between 2020 and 2024 ("the events").

Coverage of the events will be broadcast on the Sky Sports channels. In addition, the BBC has rights to broadcast highlights and has national radio rights for all international test matches played in England and Wales during this period.

Cricket Test Matches played in England are Group B Listed Events under the Broadcasting Act 1996. In accordance with section 101 of the Broadcasting Act 1996, Ofcom's consent is needed for exclusive live coverage of these events.

The rules which apply are set out in the Code on Sports and Other Listed and Designated Events. Where minimum requirements are met, Ofcom can grant consent automatically for Group B events.

Having considered the information supplied by Sky, and supplementary information provided by the BBC, Ofcom has decided to grant automatic consent to Sky's exclusive live coverage of the events.
