Appointment of Channel 3 news provider – 2019 review
Ofcom has decided to approve the proposed terms of appointment of ITN as the Channel 3 news provider for the period to 2024. Ofcom considers that the terms appeared appropriate for securing that ITN’s finances will be adequate, throughout the period of its appointment, to ensure that the Channel 3 news obligations are capable of being met (in accordance with sections 279 and 280 of the Communications Act 2003).
The Ofcom Board decided at its meeting on 17 March 2015 to approve the proposed terms of appointment of ITN as the Channel 3 news provider for the period to 2018. The Ofcom Board considered that the terms appeared appropriate for securing ITN’s finances to ensure that the Channel 3 news obligations are capable of being met throughout the term of ITN’s appointment (see section 280(3) of the Communications Act 2003).
