Children’s experiences of using online services

We conduct this research twice a year among children aged 8–17 using an online panel. At Wave 2, a large-scale pilot was also carried out in schools, with findings from the primary school element, capturing data on children’s recalled exposure to harmful content, now published.

This pilot data should be interpreted as indicative only, given the size and nature of the sample; it was neither designed nor weighted to be representative. Nonetheless, we consider it provides valuable insight into younger children’s reported experiences of harmful content online.

Exposure to non-designated content has been excluded at Wave 2 in the wave-on-wave tables to aid comparability with the Wave 1 data, but data on this exposure is included in the Wave 2 standalone tables.
