the Advisory Committees on Telecommunications These committees give advice to OFTEL, the government body which regulates
telecommunications in the UK. The aim is to ensure that the regulator and the
companies supply telecoms networks, services, and equipment, take account of the needs of
all users.
The committees give particular emphasis to
the needs of those consumers with least power in the market - people on low incomes or in
rural areas, small businesses, and people who are elderly or disabled.
