Wide Area PBR licence fees
Speech and Data Systems
Fees are determined by the following factors:
1. Location of radio operation
Fees are determined by whether a radio operation is carried out in an area that is designated as (a) heavily congested, (b) congested or (c) non-congested:
(a) Heavily congested: The level of traffic on a particular channel results in users making several unsuccessful call attempts and/or causes unwanted call terminations due to co-channel interference.
| Designation of area | National Grid Reference 10 km x 10 km areas | |
| Heavily congested | TQ 200 700; TQ 200 800; TQ 300 700; TQ 300 800 | |
| Table 1a | ||
(b) Congested: The level of traffic on a particular channel is sufficiently high to cause some inconvenience to users wishing to make calls. This is manifested as occasional unsuccessful call attempts and occasional co-channel interference problems.
| Designation of area | National Grid Reference 10 km x 10 km areas | |
| Congested | TQ
100 700; TQ 100 800; TQ 200 900; TQ 300 900; TQ 400 700; TQ 400 800. |
|
| Table 1b | ||
(c) Non-congested: The level of traffic causes very little inconvenience to users wishing to make calls. This designation applies to all other areas of the United Kingdom.
2. Frequency band
The following bands have been identified as containing heavily congested or congested areas or as being non-congested throughout the UK.

3. Exclusivity factor
An exclusivity factor is a fee modifier which is determined by the type of business use and the number of mobile stations used on a channel.
