Ofcom has agreed changes to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ofcom and the Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice, the Advertising Standards Authority (Broadcast) Limited and the Broadcast Advertising Standards Board of Finance that will facilitate the extension of the remit of the Advertising Advisory Committee (AAC). The AAC is an independent panel that supports the broadcast advertising co-regulatory system by bringing a consumer voice to broadcast advertising policy issues.
Following a consultation, we have agreed changes to the MoU which will allow the remit of the AAC to be extended so that it is able to provide a consumer perspective on issues impacting both broadcast and non-broadcast advertising.
